what I think about bobby is that he is ready to man up and be the best dad to his baby girl.
ReplyDeleteI think bobby should try and be the best father that he could be.It seems he has alot going on right now.
ReplyDeleteWhat are some specific things that make you believe that Bobby will try to be the best father he can be for his baby?
ReplyDeleteWhat are some of the specific challenges Bobby is facing in part 1 of this book?
The language and contents in this book are a little "rough around the edges", but I intentionally chose this book for my Middle School and High School students because I think a wonderful life lesson can be taught in this book. I believe that this book teaches young people the importance of making good choices, as well as how to face the choices that you make and not run and hide. Bobby, in this book has found himself in a very bad situation by making terrible choices. He chose to have sex prematurely and outside of marriage and found himself in fatherhood before he knew what really hit him. His whole life changed instantly. Surprisely, Bobby didn't run from his responsibility, he struggled to do the right thing. Now just keep reading to find out what happens in part 2.
ReplyDeletewhat i like about bobby is that he is weling to take care of his baby. And what i dont like about bobby is that he is only sixteen and he has a child and he is only a child his self.
ReplyDeletewhat i like about now and then is that he talk about his pass How he can just jump up and go hangout with his friends ''then''. ''NOW'' he has very little time to even hangout with them now
ReplyDeleteThe flow of the pages as they go to then and now is interesting. At first I really disliked the idea but now since I've re-read the book its flow has become more clear. Some adjectives I would use to describe Bobby would be caring, loving, loyal, among others. Some things in part 1 I like about Bobby is, how he is trying to adapt to the newborn also how he seems to try to be the father-figure his little girl needs. Some things I dislike about Bobby are how he complains about the how the newborn has changed his life.Bobby and Nia decided to have sex in their teen years, both of them should take on their roles and mother and father. Now some adjectives I would use to describe Nia is scared, confused, and cranky. I belive Nia in the first part of the book feels somewhat confused and scared. She probrably is wondering how could she allow this to happen. Every time it seems like the conversation of the baby comes up she starts to cry.I predict that in part two Nia will began to accept the fact she is the mother and hopefully Bobby will be able to make the situation better with his father and Nia parents.
ReplyDeleteIn part 2: what do you think the relationship is like between Bobby and his mom. Also explain what you think his relationship is like with his dad.
ReplyDeleteDo you think the relationship with Bobby and his friends K-Boy and J.L. has changed since Bobby found out he is going to be a father? If so, explain.
If you had a friend in a similar situation as Bobby, would you continue to be friends with that person? How would you help that friend when they are down?
What kind of teacher do you think Mr. Phillips is? What do you think his motive was for keeping Bobby after class?
Why is Jackie special to Bobby?
Why would Bobby and Nia continue to try to "fool around" even now that they are expecting a baby? Do you think they have learned their lesson at all?
Why do you think Bobby would hang out with JL when it appears that J.L. is always getting into trouble? What did you think about J.L. and Bobby seeking into the classroom and turning all of the furniture upside down?
What type of hobby or talent is evident that Bobby has in Part 2? Do you think that Bobby was being irresponsible to spend all day painting and losing track of time and forgetting to pick up his baby? Do you think there is an excuse for Bobby?
I believe that in part 2 the relationship between Bobby and his mother is somewhat improving.I belive that his mother has come to accept that her son has become a father.Their relationship is partially broken because I believe that his mom my never imagined that he would become a father so young. The relationshp between Bobby and his father is unpredictable. Bobby has really broken the bond somewhat between him and his father.I know his father really expected more out of Bobby. The relationship between his parents is fixable but it is going to take alot to fix them.I know that the relationshp between Bobby and his friends has changed already.Bobby can no longer just go anywhere he pleases,he has a child to look after. An example is when Bobby was about to meet his friends to shoot hoops. Until he remembered that he forget Feather on the bed.Of course I would continue to be friends with my friend, everbody makes mistakes.Certain ways I would try to help out would be to encourage, purchase supplies, and maybe once in a while babysit.I think Mr. Phillips is a teacher that wants to help maybe guide or mentor Bobby through his life as an early father.I think Mr. Phillips motive for keeping Bobby afterclass, was so that he could see where Bobby's head is at and how has it been so far since the baby was born.I believe thst Nia and Bobby are continuing to fool around so that they will be able to fit back in like nothing happened also so that they might be able to find some relief since they both have recieved the news.I believe that both of them have learned their lesson partially. But the real lesson comes when the baby is born. The only reason for Bobby hanging out with JL is so that he can somewhat relieve his mind of the baby.Well they are a bunch of highschoolers that are bored. What do you expect?Bobby talent is spray-painting designs.Bobby was irresponsible for skipping school adn forgeting to pickup feather. No way is this an excuse for Bobby. This is the effects of having a baby so young a not married. ReplyDeleteIn part 3 of the book, respond to the following:
ReplyDelete-What do you think of Bobby's father in this section of the book?
-What emotions does Bobby feel as he sits in jail, what are his concerns?
-How has Nia's attitude changed in part 3 versus how she was in the previous sections?
-What things are Nia and Bobby discussing at the party? Why do you think they even bothered to go to the party?
-What do you feel when Nia asks Bobby, "What are you going to do now?" Do you think that Nia is blaming Bobby for her pregnancy?
In part 2 the relationship between Bobby and his mother are coming along.I really think that Bobby let his father down doing what he did. Both his mom and pop probably didn't expect him being a dad at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dalvin about how the relationship between his parents is fixable. Everyone makes mistakes, and this is just a young boy who made a big mistake and needs to man up about it.I also agree with his relationship between his friends. Now that Bobby has a baby he really has a busy schedule. He can't just go anywhere he want's to go now. If this was me in this situation either they accept that I have more responsebilities now or you can go do what you want. I think Mr.phillips wants to be a mentor for Bobby. I believe he wants to help Bobby in this struggle in his life. Having a baby at such a young age comes with tough times but just have faith and God will make a way.
In part 4 of the book, what is Bobby's relationship like with his brother Paul?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the problem with Nia in part 4?
How does the problem with Nia change the lives of Bobby and Feather?
Please give your opinion abou this book and if you would recommend it to a friend, and tell why.
I agree with you Jheryl that God will always make a way for His people, but I also believe that God gives us wisdom to make wise choices. I don't believe that we should go through life making decisions based on all of our feelings without thinking through the possible outcomes of our decisions.
ReplyDeleteI think of Bobby's father as being a dad that's concerned, laid back and slow to speak at times. He's a dad that's upset but realizes yelling will not accomplish anything.Emotions I would use to describe Bobby would be scared, angry, and disappointed.Alot has happened to Bobby lately what would you expect.Bobby's main concerns are how's his mother going to take the news? Will the police be able to contact anybody to come and pick him up? How's his baby feather doing is she okay? Will I have to stay in a jail cell for longer than I expected?Nia's change in attitude to me has somewhat improved. She's gotten out more with friends such as K-boy and J.L.She even went to a party with Bobby so she is somewhat coming around. In previous chapters Nia would cry alot and wouldn't really have any fun or conversate much.At the party Bobby and Nia are discussing future plans for the baby if they decide to keep it.I can tell by Bobby's reaction to the conversation he really hates the subject.I believe they went to the party just get a break from the pregnancy and just have a little alone time.I feel as though Nia really doesn't want to have the baby.Nia probrably feels as though either Bobby should care for the baby or have an abortion.I think Nia is blaming Bobby partially for getting her pregnant.Bobby is just as responsible as Nia,takes two to have a baby. DALVIN KNIGHT
ReplyDeleteI think of Bobby's dad as being a relaxed but also concerned and helping dad.His emotions I think he feels are scared, worried, and disapointed. I beleive his main concerns were how long will I be in here,is Feather okay, how is my mom going to take this, will anyone come get me. Bobby and Nia are dicussing plans about the baby. I think they went to the party just to get away and dicuss some things about the bsby. I really feel that Nia dosen't want anything to do with the baby. I think she wants Bobby to take care of the baby. I think Nia is blaming Bobby for getting her pregnant but she can't blame him fully because it's her fault to.
