Read chapters 1 and 2 and answer the following questions: 1. What is Calvin's attitude about the summer ending? 2. How did Calvin get hurt at the beach? 3. Name Calvin's friends and what they are like. 4. What surprise did Calvin's mom have for him at the beach, and how did he feel about the surprise? 5. If you received the same surprise that Calvin received, how would you feel about it?
Calvins attitude was like forget school I am going to have some fun.Calvin tried to kiteboard and the kiteboard was draging him on the ground giveing him bruises and scratches.Maya was like a sporty girl and she tries to correct people and Julio is the stupid one but loves sports to.calvins supprise was a fifteen year old girl is moving in the house butshe is moving in your room and he felt like what she cant move in my room.what are you mad woman you cant put her in my room why cant we put her in dalvin or jheryl's room.
In chapters 3 & 4: 1. What are your thoughts of Tito? Use adjectives to describe him? 2. How would you handle a bully like Tito? 3. Do you believe that it's really hard for Calvin to focus on his tasks? If so, what do you believe is his problem? 4. Which teacher are the kids excited about getting and why? 5. What are some things Tito could have done to avoid "run-ins" with the police? 6. Based on what you know about Calvin and his friends so far, how do you believe they behave when they are at school?
1.Tito is I would say mean,bad,terrible,and evil thats what he is like.2.Well I would tell the bully to stop then if he doesn't then I would tell but if he cept on messing with me then I would start protecting myself.3.Well yes beacause he gets destacted with the simplest things and would do only the simple stuff probibly.4.The kids are getting excited by Mr.Purty beacause he thinks he is still in the army.5.Tito could have stayed at home and played at outside of could try to stop being a bully.6.Well I think thay some act bad and some act good.
Chapters 5 & 6: What is so exciting about the new day in chapter 5? How would you describe the relationship that Calvin has with his daughter Darci in this chapter? Why does Calvin have to take one the responsibility of getting his little sister to class on the first day of school? How would you feel if you were in Calvin's shoes and had such a great responsibility?
Chapter 6: What does Calvin take with him to school in a jar? What is different about Calvin and Darci's dad? Why had Calvin not seen his friend Rubin in 2 months? What did Calvin's friends think about the "creature" he had in his jar? Would you carry a "critter" like that around in a jar like Calvin did?
